About US

Meet the team

Petio Kotov, MD

I began my medical career in my native country of Bulgaria. In the hopes of providing a better life for my family, moved to the United States in 1997 in order to become a U.S. licensed physician.

As a family, we had to make many sacrifices, the most difficult of which was long periods of separation while I worked and prepared for the USMLE, United States Medical License Exam. Because I had no access to fair financing to cover the considerable costs associated with preparing for this exam, I had to work many jobs, some as ungratifying as cleaning floors at the local supermarket.

Eventually, with hard work and my family’s support I achieved my goals; today, some twenty years later, I am a Naturalized U.S. Citizen practicing pathology in the United States, am the president and CEO of two successful companies, and the Medical Director at three hospitals in Michigan where I reside with my Bulgarian wife and three children (one born in our native Bulgaria and two here in the U.S.).

Now, I want to use my experience and knowledge to give other aspiring doctors overseas something I never had; the support and financial means to pursue their dreams of becoming a licensed U.S. physician!

Fabiola Ruiz Velasco, MD

I earned my Medical Degree in my native city at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara (UAG).

A significant part of a medical career is the intimate contact you have with other people. For me it’s important to be able to meet and help new people.

Aside from my duties at Valedictorian MD, I teach Biology and Clinical Skills at my Alma Mater, UAG. Like many others, I aspire to practice Medicine in the U.S. and found a home at Valedictorian MD through their support for me in this pursuit.

I’m grateful for the confidence the participants of Valedictorian place in me to help guide them in this difficult but rewarding journey. Join our community of aspiring U.S. physicians and I look forward to helping you along the way!

For over a decade now, I’ve been fortunate enough to embark on exciting adventures, starting from the charming landscapes of France to the vibrant cultures of Ireland and Mexico. Along this journey, I’ve acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Sales Engineering, thus shaping my predominantly business-oriented background.

However, as much i loved it, my path took a delightful twist after my experiences in management roles centered around sales and operations within the realm of IT companies. I found myself irresistibly drawn to the realm of technology. Currently, my endeavors revolve around aiding organizations in streamlining their business processes, automating operations, and crafting the most captivating user-friendly interfaces.

A few years ago, I embarked on a new exciting journey with VMD. What sparked my interest in joining them was the realization of the pressing need for doctors in the USA, both presently and in the foreseeable future. My time with VMD has been a tremendous learning experience, and I take immense pride in being a valuable member of the team, assisting international medical graduates in reaching their dreams of practicing medicine in the United States.

Humberto Diaz, MD

I am a physician born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. Since the beginning of my medical education I was interested in medical practice in and outside of Mexico. I have had the opportunity of doing medical rotations in several cities in Mexico as well as in Mallorca, Spain and Miami, Florida in the USA.

I am currently working as a professor in my home university at the Autonoma of Guadalajara and preparing for USA-based medical residency training in internal medicine.

I joined the Valedictorian MD Team because I have seen first-hand how difficult and expensive it is to find the right resources and information for the complicated and time-consuming process of preparing your residency application, obtaining interviews and eventually matching with a residency program.

I want to make it easier for other IMGs who want to do Residency Training and eventually work in the U.S. to achieve their goals.
