“I made the decision to start preparing for the US residency in February 2021 immediately after my internship. Despite having begun a journey to a UK practice, I quickly reconsidered my earlier choice following the conviction that I’d be happier getting into a residency program as soon as possible and in the US. I prepared for the Step 1 between March and August, and then off and on until November when I took the exam. I took a long hiatus for personal reasons and began preparing for step 2 in March 2022. That took me about 3 months & I was able to take the exam in June. Immediately after my exam, I moved to the US to gain some US clinical experience with the help of Valedictorian MD. I absolutely loved this experience as it brought me in touch with a brilliant community of fellow applicants and physicians who supported one another throughout the rest of the journey. I was also able to take my step 3 before leaving the US in August. I must add that a very important component of being part of Valedictorian MD is the financial support being offered to applicants by people who understand, and this went a long way to make the journey a much smoother one.
